The Resource Consent Process
Preliminary civil engineering specifications and environmental effects assessments have now been completed and form part of the Resource Consents applications lodged with Environment BoP in November 2008. Public submissions for those consent applications closed prior to Christmas 2008. The consents are expected to be heard in a joint hearing in the first half of 2009. Once the consent decisions are made, they will be open to appeal by any party to the hearing. Due to the sensitivity of the coastal environment, any consents issued must also be approved by the Minister of Conservation.
