Consent Applications
The Opotiki District Council lodged Resource Consent applications with Environment BoP (Bay of Plenty Regional Council) in November 2008. The resource consent process is outlined in the accompanying flowchart.

Note that the proposed Opotiki Harbour Development will require an additional procedure involving the issuing of a Coastal Permit covering restricted coastal activities. This will include input from the Department of Conservation, with final approval in the hands of the Minister of Conservation.
Public submissions on the Consent applications closed on 19 December 2008 and hearings are expected to be scheduled in early 2009.
